With just hours left in 2023, I would like to thank those of you who have supported Motivating Matters. I hope the articles I shared this year have been of some inspiration. In all honesty, when I write these articles, it feels like I am speaking to myself more than anything.
I have fallen short since starting Motivating Matters, and must acknowledge that fact. Much of the advice I have given in my articles I struggle to follow myself. That clearly qualifies me as a hypocrite. Add Motivating Matters to the list of things I haven’t put my full effort and commitment into. The list gets longer with each year that goes by.
At times I envy those that appear to have their lives together. Those my age with their own business, good paying jobs, married, traveling, buying real estate, and living their lives to the fullest while I sulk and moan. See, it’s so easy to fall victim to self-loathing.
I found myself feeling this way earlier today and decided the best thing I could do was to acknowledge it and write about it because I know there are others feeling the same ways as 2023 comes to a close.
If there is anything I want myself and others that might be feeling this way to understand it’s that we must take responsibility for our own lives. Instead of getting mad at someone for their success and comparing them to yourself, congratulate them and wish them the best. It may feel unnatural in the moment, but your reinforcement of their success actually helps you as well.
The amazing thing about us as humans is that we have the ability to change. We are NOT robots programmed for a specific purpose. Rather we are blessed with the ability to think and imagine. Tomorrow is a new day with endless possibilities.
Why are you wishing the worst for someone? Is your success so important to you that you put it above the livelihood of collective humanity? Are you okay with prospering at the dispense of those that supported you most?
These are all questions that we should reflect on as we enter 2024. Take a long hard look in the mirror and be honest with yourself. Be a beacon of light in this dark world we’re living in.
Cheers to another year around the sun! I pray that God blesses and guides you this new year.
Moving forward, I will continue to share motivating content that I find interesting or useful, but my vision for Motivating Matters is that it becomes a community. If you are interested in writing a blog post or having a conversation that you feel might motivate another individual to become their best self, please feel free to reach out.
I appreciate you reading this post and hope this showed you why Motivating Matters.
