Kanye West’s motivational Grammy acceptance speech

“When I had my accident, I found out in that moment nothing in life was promised except death. If you have the opportunity to play this game of life, you need to appreciate every moment. A lot of people don’t appreciate their moment until it’s passed.”

Kanye West is arguably one of the most influential hip hop artists and entrepreneurs in the world today. He is a grammy award winning artist and fashion designer who is quoted in his new Documentary, “Jeen-Yuhs,” saying he wanted to be the best…. dressed rapper. If you haven’t watched the Documentary yet, I encourage you to check it out on Netflix. I’m a fan of his music so I was immediately engaged with the story, but if you don’t like him or don’t know who he is you might be more hesitant to watch. Even if you don’t like him, it’s impossible to hate his mentality. Watch this clip of him after he wins a grammy for album of the year.

I don’t want to spoil the documentary in case you do decide to watch, but the accident he is referring to was a car accident that he was in shortly after signing to Roc-A-Fella Records that could have very well ended his life and cut his music career short. That accident made him realize life is a delicate thing and every chance we get we should appreciate it. I believe what he is saying is so true. We need to focus on taking time more often to stop and appreciate everything around us. Even if we are not where we want to be in life. Maybe you don’t have the job you want or don’t make the money to afford the things you want or need. Guess what? It’s all about a change of perspective when we find ourselves in those situations. Look around and realize that life could be much worse. Never lose hope in a better future. This is the message I believe Kanye West was trying to convey after receiving his grammy. All that work and dedication paid off, and he was taking the time to appreciate that moment!

Focus on appreciating every moment of your life because you never know when it could be over.
